Kangpokpi, September 7, 2026: Security forces on Monday raided an unauthorised camp allegedly belonging to the suspected Kuki Liberation Army (KLA) at Gampum village under Saikul Police Station in Kangpokpi district, apprehending eight cadres and recovering seven automatic weapons.
The joint operation involved Manipur Police, CoBRA, CRPF, Mahila personnel and Rapid Action Force (RAF) teams, who conducted the raid at the suspected camp as part of a security operation in the area.
Eight individuals identified as cadres were apprehended during the operation, while seven automatic weapons were recovered from the camp, according to the information available.
The apprehended individuals and the seized weapons have been taken into custody for further legal proceedings and investigation. Authorities are expected to ascertain the identities of those apprehended and establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged operation of the unauthorised camp.
Following the raid, security forces locked and sealed the camp, effectively shutting down the alleged armed establishment at the site.
The seizure of seven automatic weapons and the apprehension of eight suspected cadres mark a significant security operation in the area, with the recovery of the firearms likely to form a key part of the ongoing investigation.
