Imphal, June 19: In a major breakthrough in several high-profile criminal and insurgency-related cases, a total of 10 accused persons were arrested during joint raids conducted by combined teams of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Manipur Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) across multiple districts of Manipur.
The coordinated operations were carried out at various locations in districts including Churachandpur, Imphal, and Ukhrul, leading to the apprehension of individuals allegedly involved in a series of serious offences currently under investigation by the NIA.
According to official sources, the arrests are linked to several significant cases, including the Ukhrul Punjab National Bank (PNB) robbery case, the looting of arms from the 5th India Reserve Battalion (IRB), the murder of a Hmar woman in Jiribam, the abduction and killing of four Kuki individuals, the attack on CRPF personnel at Narainsena, and the ambush on the convoy of the Chief Minister.
The joint teams conducted extensive searches and raids based on specific intelligence inputs and evidence gathered during the course of the investigations. The arrested individuals are being interrogated to uncover further details regarding their involvement and possible links with militant and criminal networks operating in the region.
Officials stated that the arrests mark a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts to bring those responsible for acts of violence, robbery, and attacks on security forces to justice. Further investigations are underway, and authorities have not ruled out additional arrests in connection with the cases.
Security agencies reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring that perpetrators of serious crimes are held accountable under the law.
