The Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long (TAKL) has issued a strong and urgent press statement condemning what it described as a “coordinated cross-border invasion” carried out by suspected KNA-B militants on Tangkhul Naga villages located along the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur’s Kamjong district. In the statement issued on May 7 from Irong, TAKL alleged that around 100 heavily armed KNA-B militants crossed into Indian territory from the Myanmar side at approximately 4:00 AM and launched simultaneous attacks on several Tangkhul villages, including Namlee, Wanglee, Ashang Khullen (KAKA), and Aloyo (Choro).

According to the student body, the militants carried out a multi-directional assault using sophisticated weapons, opening indiscriminate fire from multiple locations while also torching houses in the villages. The attack reportedly forced women, children, and elderly residents to flee into nearby jungles in search of safety as panic and chaos engulfed the border region.
TAKL termed the incident a direct attack on indigenous Tangkhul Naga communities and accused “Kuki narco-terrorists” of orchestrating the violence from across the international border. The organization further raised serious allegations against central security forces, claiming that despite security personnel visiting the same villages just a day before the attack, militants were still able to cross the border and execute large-scale violence without resistance. TAKL stated that the recurring pattern of attacks occurring immediately after security forces vacate an area has deeply eroded public trust among local residents. “The people of the Tangkhul Naga community have officially lost all trust and confidence in the Central Security Forces,” the statement declared.
Demanding immediate intervention, TAKL called on the Government of Manipur to deploy Manipur Police and state commandos to the vulnerable border villages, asserting that local communities now place their trust only in state forces for protection of ancestral lands and civilian lives.
The organization also demanded a transparent investigation into how such a large number of armed militants allegedly crossed the international border undetected following recent security visits to the area. It urged authorities to immediately provide relief and protection to displaced villagers currently hiding in forest areas. The latest violence has intensified concerns over the deteriorating security situation along Manipur’s porous Indo-Myanmar border, where repeated armed incursions and attacks on civilian settlements continue to fuel fear, displacement, and instability. As of the filing of this report, there has been no official response from the security forces regarding the allegations made in the press statement.
