SENAPATI, Sept. 26, 2026: The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has condemned the recent killing of four Tangkhul Naga civilians at Pilong in Kamjong district and called on the State and Central governments to take decisive action against those responsible.
In a press communique dated September 25, ANSAM expressed concern over what it described as repeated attacks on civilians, burning of houses and alleged administrative inaction. The organisation specifically referred to recent incidents at Tajekaiphun, Makui Thanamba, Makui Chamriupiu and Makui Thebram villages, besides the September 24 killing of four civilians at Pilong.
The four deceased were identified as Vareishim Jajo and Phami Jajo of Kangpat Khullen, Betterson Jajo of Kangpat Khunou, and Ningthem Kashak of Zingsui. Police and multiple media reports have confirmed that four civilians were killed in the Pilong attack, while authorities have been investigating the circumstances and suspected involvement of Myanmar-based armed elements.
ANSAM alleged that the Pilong attack was carried out by the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) and raised concern over what it described as recurring cross-border attacks from Myanmar into Naga-inhabited areas of Kamjong.
The student body also cited earlier reported attacks in Z. Choro, Wanglee, Namlee, Huimin Thana and Kherongram, arguing that the recurrence of violence along the international border warrants stronger government intervention.
Expressing solidarity with the bereaved families, ANSAM conveyed condolences to the families of the four victims and said their deaths should not be forgotten.
The organisation urged both the Government of Manipur and the Government of India to intervene in the ongoing violence, take appropriate action against perpetrators and ensure justice for the victims of the Pilong incident and other reported attacks against civilians.
“Justice for the victims of the Pilong incident,” ANSAM said in its communiqué, is an obligation of both the State and Central governments.
The statement comes as security concerns continue to mount along the Manipur–Myanmar border following the Pilong killings, with the Tangkhul Naga Long also observing a 24-hour shutdown in protest against the deaths.
