UKHRUL, October 11, 2026: The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM), has strongly condemned the reported killing of six Naga civilians and village guards in separate incidents in Manipur on October 9 and 10, alleging the involvement of Kuki armed groups and demanding an impartial, high-level investigation into the attacks.
In a press communique issued on October 11, ANSAM expressed grave concern over the deteriorating law-and-order situation, citing attacks in Makui and Tapon villages in Kangpokpi district, as well as Ningchou village and Kamjong headquarters.
According to the association, four Naga village guards — Machungammang Daimai, Dibambou Ringkangmai, Ajinbou R. and Ramningpou Robert Gangmei — were killed during an armed attack at Makui and Tapon villages on October 10. ANSAM alleged the involvement of armed cadres belonging to KNF-P, KNF-N and KRA.
The association further stated that two Naga civilians, Mathangambou Chawang and Nashon Pame, sustained critical injuries in the attack, while several houses and properties were reportedly set ablaze. It also alleged that one victim was beheaded and that his head remained missing, depriving the family of the opportunity to perform a proper burial.
In a separate incident, ANSAM reported that two Naga civilians, Ngachanso Ningshen and Leishisan Leishadang, were killed in attacks at Ningchou village on October 9 and 10. Two Naga civil defence volunteers reportedly sustained gunshot injuries, while nine residential houses were allegedly burnt down. The association expressed concern over the reported involvement of the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B), Kuki armed militants under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) arrangement, and Village Volunteer Eastern Zone (VVEZ).
ANSAM expressed solidarity with the affected Naga communities and bereaved families, extending condolences to those who lost their loved ones. It said the targeting of village defenders, killing of civilians and destruction of homes could not be normalised or overlooked.
The association also questioned a Manipur Police press release stating that the overall law-and-order situation had remained normal during the preceding 24 hours. It argued that such a declaration was inconsistent with reports of armed attacks, civilian casualties and the destruction of residential properties.
ANSAM urged the Government of Manipur and the Government of India to initiate an impartial, high-level investigation, identify and prosecute those responsible, recover and return the missing victim’s remains, and ensure effective security arrangements for vulnerable Naga settlements.
The association called on both governments to move beyond assurances and take decisive action to protect affected communities, stating that the Naga people sought justice, security and the right to live peacefully in their ancestral land.
