New Delhi, October 12, 2026: The Naga Students’ Union, Delhi (NSUD), has strongly condemned the killing of six Naga civilians in Ningchou, Chingdong and the Makui area of Manipur on October 10, 2026, allegedly by Kuki armed groups. Three other persons were reportedly injured in the incidents.
In a statement issued on October 12, NSUD expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured a speedy recovery. The Union called for an impartial investigation, accountability for those responsible and urgent measures to prevent further violence.
According to the statement, the six deceased were identified as Ngachanso Ningshen (30) and Leishishan Hungyo (50), both from Ningchou Village; Machungamang Daimai of Thanlon Village; Dibambou Ringkangmai (48) and Ajinbou Ringkangmai (52), both from Makui Village; and Ramningpou Gangmei (53) of Luangchum Village, Tamenglong.
The three injured persons were identified as Stephen Jajo (51), Angam Chawang of Kadi-2 and Nashon Pame of Impa Village, Tousem.
NSUD expressed particular concern over the reported beheading of Ajinbou Ringkangmai, whose head remains missing, and the alleged mutilation of Dibambou Ringkangmai’s body. It demanded the immediate recovery of the missing remains to enable the families to perform dignified last rites.
The Union also called for an urgent investigation into the reported burning of houses in Makui Chamriupiu, Makui Thebram, Makui Pipuram (Saramjao) and Makui Thanamba, as well as allegations of church property being looted and livestock being killed or stolen.
Raising concerns over the alleged cross-border movement of armed perpetrators from Myanmar, NSUD questioned the effectiveness of existing border security arrangements. It urged the Union and Manipur governments to ensure a transparent, impartial and time-bound investigation, bring those responsible to justice, and establish accountability wherever security lapses are found.
The statement further called for stronger protection of vulnerable Naga villages and the safe return and rehabilitation of displaced residents. NSUD also urged authorities to investigate reported violations of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement and take appropriate action against any group found to have breached its terms.
The Union cautioned against the circulation of deliberate misinformation and inflammatory content on social media, calling for such matters to be addressed through lawful and evidence-based measures.
According to NSUD, at least 32 Nagas have been killed in Naga-Kuki violence since February 2026. The Union called for urgent action to prevent further loss of life, protect affected communities and ensure accountability for security failures.
NSUD warned that if the authorities failed to take meaningful action, it would pursue democratic agitation in Delhi and coordinate with Naga organisations across the country to seek justice.
Appealing to the Naga people to remain united and peaceful during the difficult period, the Union clarified that its demand for justice was directed at those responsible for the violence and anyone found to have enabled or concealed it, rather than against any community as a whole.
The statement was signed by NSUD President Chipika Zhimo and General Secretary Yurngam A Shimray, who reiterated the Union’s solidarity with the bereaved families and stressed that justice, accountability and lasting peace must prevail.
