The Eastern Naga National Workers Union (ENNWU), NSCN/GPRN, has appealed to the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes to exercise restraint and pursue peaceful reconciliation amid the recent conflict between the two communities.
In a press release dated October 19, 2026, the ENNWU expressed deep concern over the situation and urged both tribes to refrain from actions that could escalate tensions and disturb peace and harmony in society.
The union stated that violence, retaliation and confrontation would only deepen divisions and cause unnecessary suffering among the people. It called on community leaders, elders, civil society organisations and responsible citizens to work collectively towards an immediate and peaceful resolution of the conflict.
The union also urged the public to refrain from spreading rumours, misinformation and inflammatory statements that could provoke further misunderstanding and hostility between the two communities.
Calling for brotherhood, forgiveness and unity, the ENNWU stressed that prolonged tensions could affect not only the present generation but also the future of their children and generations to come.
The organisation further appealed to both tribes to set aside their differences, exercise maturity and work towards restoring lasting peace and trust, stating that peace was a collective responsibility and reconciliation was essential for a stronger and more harmonious Naga society.
