Ukhrul, November 2, 2026: The United Naga Council (UNC) has issued a strong rejoinder against what it described as a “Kuki lies campaign and victim-card politics,” rejecting allegations against Naga leaders and raising concerns over recent incidents at Tazeikaphun, Senapati and T. Khullen.
In a statement issued through its Media Cell on November 2, the UNC said that while it unequivocally condemned all forms of killings irrespective of community, it was compelled to place what it described as the facts on record to counter alleged misinformation and deliberate attempts to distort the situation.
Reacting to the Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU)’s demand for the removal of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Losii Dikho, the UNC termed the demand unfounded and politically motivated. It maintained that Dikho had been working for public welfare across communities and making efforts towards restoring peace in the state.
The council rejected what it described as an attempt to equate Dikho with fellow Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Nemcha Kipgen, referring to her husband, Shri Semtinthang Kipgen, alias Thangboi, identified in the statement as the head of KNF-P and accused of responsibility for the Leilon Vaiphei massacre of six Naga men.
The UNC further backed the demand by Naga legislators, including Dikho, for Nemcha Kipgen to either step down or ensure that her husband’s organisation stops fighting and killing Nagas. It described the demand for Dikho’s removal as a diversionary tactic intended to deflect attention from the issue.
On the Tazeikaphun incident, the UNC rejected the allegations made by the Kuki Inpi Manipur, describing them as false and fabricated. According to the council, a Naga village had faced consecutive attacks by Kuki armed militants for three days beginning October 29, 2026, during which three Kuki cadres were reportedly killed in an exchange of fire on October 31.
The council accused the Kuki side of portraying itself as the victim following the incident and termed allegations against the NSCN and ZUF-K misleading. It maintained that Nagas were the victims of aggression at Tazeikaphun and other areas.
Regarding the recovery of two bodies in Senapati district, the UNC said it had questioned the circumstances surrounding the incident and demanded an impartial, transparent and independent investigation to establish the truth and ensure accountability.
The council also raised concerns over the role of Additional SP (Law and Order), Senapati, Shri Thangkhochon Haokip, stating that his impartiality in handling sensitive communal matters had been questioned. It alleged that attempts to implicate Nagas in the deaths of the two Kuki individuals without proper investigation, along with alleged procedural lapses, could inflame communal tensions.
The UNC stressed that any manipulation of evidence or deliberate attempts to aggravate communal tensions must be condemned and called for a transparent investigation into the matter.
In another serious allegation, the council condemned the reported arson at T. Khullen, a Maram village, on November 1. According to the statement, an armed Kuki group carrying firearms allegedly set several residential houses on fire at around 3:30 pm, reducing them to ashes.
Questioning the alleged inaction of Central security forces and Kangpokpi Police despite the incident occurring in their presence, the UNC demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible, along with appropriate compensation, relief and rehabilitation for the affected villagers.
The statement concluded by reiterating the council’s condemnation of killings and its demand for impartial investigations and accountability in incidents affecting communities across Manipur.
The rejoinder was issued by the Media Cell of the United Naga Council.
