Imphal, September 29: Artists in Manipur have been granted additional time to apply for the Chief Ministergi Artistessingi Tengbang (CMAT) scheme, with the Directorate of Art and Culture announcing an extension of the application deadline for the 2026-27 cycle.
According to an official notice issued by Director of Art and Culture K. Dinamani Singh, duly completed application forms will now be accepted at the Directorate office located at Palace Compound, Imphal, until 3.30 pm on October 9, 2026.
The revised deadline marks a shift from the Directorate’s earlier notification, dated September 2, 2026, through which applications for the scheme were first invited. The notice clarified that the extension has been granted with the approval of the competent authority, indicating that the decision followed the requisite administrative procedures.
The CMAT scheme is a flagship initiative of the Government of Manipur aimed at providing financial support and recognition to artists across the state. The scheme covers practitioners from various art forms and is intended to honor the contributions of artists while offering them sustained assistance.
Prospective applicants are advised to ensure that their application forms are duly completed in all respects before submission, as only such forms will be accepted by the Directorate. Applications must reach the Directorate office at Palace Compound, Imphal, on or before the stipulated time of 3.30 pm on October 9, 2026.
Artists who may have been unable to prepare their submissions within the original timeline now have an extended window to complete the required documentation and formalities. Eligible applicants are encouraged not to delay further, as the revised deadline will likely be the final opportunity for the 2026-27 cycle.
The extension comes as welcome relief for Manipur’s artist community, many of whom rely on the scheme for financial support and official recognition of their work. By allowing additional time, the Directorate has sought to maximize participation and ensure that deserving artists are not excluded due to procedural constraints.
Interested artists and applicants may contact or visit the Directorate of Art and Culture at Palace Compound, Imphal, for further information regarding eligibility criteria and submission requirements before the new deadline.
