Ukhrul, (NGAINGA), October 17, 2026: The Ngainga Village Authority inaugurated the Ngainga Village Court at the Court Compound on Saturday, marking a significant step towards strengthening village-level justice and promoting fairness and accountability in the community.

SA Ramnganing, president of the Naga Village Chief/Headman Federation (South), attended the inauguration as chief guest and formally inaugurated the court.
Addressing the gathering, Ramnganing described the village court as the heart of the village, saying that the future of Ngainga would largely depend on how fairly and responsibly the court delivered justice.
Referring to the black robe worn by judges, he said it symbolised neutrality, authority and impartiality. He stressed that those entrusted with judicial responsibilities must rise above personal interests and bias, adding that the robe represented a responsibility that should not be taken lightly.
Ramnganing said he had heard about the history of Ngainga and welcomed the village authority’s initiative to establish a court. Drawing an example from his own village, he observed that news travels more quickly as communities become closer to urban centres. As Ngainga is not far from Ukhrul town, he cautioned that any unfair or biased judgement could quickly become known, particularly in the present era of technology.

He further emphasised that the development and reputation of a village could not be built through the efforts of a single individual. Comparing a village to a garden, he said one flower alone could not make a garden beautiful, but a collection of flowers could transform it. Similarly, the progress and dignity of Ngainga would depend on the collective efforts of its people.
The chief guest also cautioned that the village court would encounter different kinds of disputes and cases, requiring wisdom, integrity and careful judgement from the village authority. He warned that if justice was not delivered fairly, the investment made in constructing the court and the trust placed in the institution by the people would lose their meaning.
Urging the people to move forward, Ramnganing called on the community to build a Ngainga that was more developed, truthful and just, rather than remain defined by its past.
He also compared the village court to a church, stressing that its true purity should lie not in the cleanliness of its building but in the intentions of those who administer justice. He urged the village authority to maintain honesty, sincerity and impartiality in every decision.

The pastor of Ngainga Baptist Church, Rev. Nganingkhui Ragui, offered a prayer seeking God’s blessing and guidance for the village court. He prayed that those entrusted with administering justice would remain neutral in every kind of case and advised them to always choose the truth.
Meanwhile, the headman of Ngainga village expressed gratitude to all individuals who contributed to the construction of the village court, The village authority also presented tokens of appreciation to individuals who had contributed to the construction.
The inauguration programme was attended by neighbouring village’s headmen and village authorities, pastors and villagers, who gathered to witness the opening of the new village institution. To demonstrate unity and uniformity, all members of the village authority wore black robes during the programme.
