Ukhrul, May 30: In a continued effort to maintain law and order in the hill districts, security forces conducted a search operation in the Yaolen Chepu village area under Litan Police Station in Ukhrul district and recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, communication equipment and other military-related items.
According to official sources, the recovery was made on May 30, 2026. The seized items include four Single Barrel Breech Loading (SBBL) guns and two Single Barrel Muzzle Loading (SBML) guns. Security personnel also recovered 24 live 12-bore rounds, two empty 12-bore cartridge cases, one empty .303 rifle cartridge case, 22 empty SLR cartridge cases, and one empty AK cartridge case.
In addition to the firearms and ammunition, the forces recovered three Baofeng wireless communication sets, a 12-bore ammunition carrier belt, a tactical belt, a magazine pouch, a Bushnell binocular, a waist bag, and two pieces of lead.
The recovered items have been handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings. Security agencies are continuing area domination and search operations in vulnerable locations to prevent the movement and concealment of illegal arms and related equipment.
