Ukhrul, July 5, 2026: The District Election Office, Ukhrul, today published the Draft Photo Electoral Roll 2026 for Ukhrul district as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls, covering both 44-Ukhrul (ST) Assembly Constituency and 45-Chingai (ST) Assembly Constituency.
According to the press note issued by the Office of the District Election Officer/DC, Ukhrul, the draft roll has been published with July 1, 2026 as the qualifying date. The Special Intensive Revision exercise began on May 13, 2026 and concluded on June 28, 2026, followed by the publication of the draft electoral roll on July 5, 2026.
Speaking on the publication of the draft roll, P. Duna Duo, MCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jessami and Electoral Registration Officer of 45-Chingai (ST) AC, said the draft electoral roll for the whole of Ukhrul district, combining both 44-Ukhrul and 45-Chingai Assembly constituencies, has been released.
He informed that a total of 97,571 Enumeration Forms were distributed across 141 polling stations in the two Assembly constituencies. Of these, 87,521 forms were digitised, comprising 42,992 male electors and 44,529 female electors.
The District Election Office also reported that 10,050 Enumeration Forms were uncollectable. The reasons included 1,970 absent or untraceable electors, 5,915 permanently shifted, 1,436 death cases, 702 double entries, and 27 under other categories.
Following the draft publication, the period for filing claims and objections has started from July 5, 2026, and will continue till August 4, 2026. During this period, eligible citizens whose names have been left out, or electors seeking corrections, inclusion, deletion, or objection to any entry, may submit the appropriate forms.
The notice stated that applications may be filed through Form 6, Form 7 or Form 8, as applicable. Eligible citizens who will attain the age of 18 years on the subsequent qualifying date of October 1, 2026, may also file advance claims for inclusion of their names in the electoral roll.
The notice phase and disposal of claims and objections will continue from July 5 to September 2, 2026, while the Final Electoral Roll is scheduled to be published on September 6, 2026.
Highlighting the importance of the electoral card and enrolment in the electoral roll, P. Duna Duo appealed to all eligible citizens to treat the process seriously. He said the voter identity card and inclusion in the electoral roll are not merely formal documents, but essential proofs of citizenship and democratic participation. Without proper enrolment, eligible citizens may lose the opportunity to exercise their voting rights during elections.
He further stated that the electoral card also serves as an important identity document for citizens and helps ensure that every eligible voter is recognised in the democratic process. He urged those who have been left out, those requiring correction of details, and newly eligible voters to come forward within the given time and complete the necessary formalities.
P. Duna Duo also appealed to village leaders, youth organisations and responsible citizens to help spread awareness, especially among people in remote villages, elderly citizens, persons with disabilities and those who may not fully understand the importance of electoral enrolment. He said collective public participation is necessary to ensure that no eligible voter is left behind.
He also appreciated the Booth Level Officers for ensuring 100 percent distribution of Enumeration Forms and for their role in carrying out the Special Intensive Revision exercise across the district.
The District Election Office also informed that five new polling stations have been approved by the Election Commission of India following rationalisation proposals. Three polling stations have been approved under 44-Ukhrul (ST) AC at KK Tang, Tushen C and Nungshong Khunao, while two new polling stations have been approved under 45-Chingai (ST) AC at Sirarakong B and Peh C.
Copies of the Draft Photo Electoral Roll 2026 are available for public inspection at the offices of the respective Electoral Registration Officers during office hours. Electors may also access the electoral rolls through the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur.
A dedicated Help Desk has also been set up at Room No. 115, Ground Floor, Office of the DEO/DC, Ukhrul District. In addition, the toll-free voter helpline number 1950 is operational to assist electors, especially Persons with Disabilities, senior citizens, migrant electors and other eligible citizens requiring assistance during the revision process.
The District Election Office urged all eligible citizens to verify their names and take necessary action within the stipulated time, stating that the electoral roll and voter identity card are vital instruments for protecting the right to vote and strengthening democracy.
