Hebron, July 6, 2026:
The NSCN/GPRN has denied any involvement in the reported ambush on a convoy of the Indian Armed Forces at the Nungshang River area near Hungpung village, Ukhrul district, which reportedly took place at around 1:30 PM on Monday.
In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity, NSCN/GPRN stated that the incident, allegedly carried out by an armed group suspected to be the breakaway “Eastern Flank” faction, has “no connection whatsoever” with the organisation. It also clarified that there is no “Eastern Flank” in the Naga Army of the NSCN/GPRN.
The organisation categorically stated that it was neither involved in nor had any knowledge of the reported ambush. It further maintained that it remains firmly committed to the Ceasefire Agreement with the Government of India and continues to uphold the agreed ground rules.
Reiterating its commitment to the ongoing Indo-Naga political negotiations, the NSCN/GPRN said it would never resort to any action that could undermine, derail, or sabotage the peace process. It stressed that the pursuit of an honourable and peaceful political solution remains its unwavering commitment.
The NSCN/GPRN also condemned all actions and activities detrimental to the peace process and the ongoing Indo-Naga political talks. It appealed to all stakeholders to exercise restraint and responsibility at this crucial juncture so that the progress made toward a peaceful resolution is not jeopardised by acts that may create mistrust and instability.
