New Delhi, August 15, 2026: The Naga Students’ Union, Delhi (NSUD) has strongly condemned the August 13 armed attack on Langka (Taniuluang) Naga Village in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, calling for immediate measures to protect Naga civilians and ensure justice for the victims.
According to NSUD, the attack was allegedly carried out by armed cadres of the Kuki National Front (P), reportedly led by Jangboi Kipgen. The incident resulted in the deaths of Wiriliangbou Chawang, 35, and Kawidinang Abonmai, 54. Namthiulungbou Prinmai, 45, reportedly sustained a groin injury, while Maliangjinang Abonmai, 50, suffered injuries to his chest and arm.
Independent reports also confirmed that an armed attack on Langka Naga village left two people dead and two others injured, although accounts differ on the precise circumstances and identities involved.
NSUD expressed deep concern over what it described as the recurrence of attacks targeting Naga civilians and villages, stressing that violence against unarmed civilians poses a serious threat to human life, dignity and communal security.
The student body conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and solidarity with the people of Langka Naga Village. It also urged that the injured receive immediate and adequate medical assistance.
NSUD called upon the Government of India and the Government of Manipur to take prompt and effective steps to strengthen security in Naga villages, prevent further attacks and conduct a credible, impartial and time-bound investigation to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
“The protection of civilian life, dignity, and security must remain paramount,” NSUD said, emphasizing that violence against civilians should neither be normalised nor tolerated.
