Prominent Naga student organizations across Nagaland have strongly condemned the brutal killing of two civilians at TM Kasom village along NH-202 on April 18, 2026, calling the incident a grave violation of human dignity and a direct threat to peace and unity in the region.
In separate press statements issued on April 22, the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), Angami Students’ Union (ASU), and All Sümi Students’ Union (SKK) expressed deep anguish over the tragic loss of innocent lives and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
The Ao Students’ Conference described the attack as “heinous and barbaric,” stating that such acts undermine the very fabric of society and threaten harmonious coexistence. The organization urged authorities to initiate an immediate, impartial investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice without delay. It further emphasized the need for unity and collective responsibility to prevent recurrence of such violence.
Echoing similar sentiments, the Angami Students’ Union termed the incident not merely a localized tragedy but a serious assault on the sanctity of life and shared security of the Naga people. The union stressed that the right to live in peace is non-negotiable and called for transparent and urgent action from the authorities. It reaffirmed its commitment to upholding justice, human dignity, and the rule of law.
Meanwhile, the All Sümi Students’ Union strongly denounced the incident, stating that such violence strikes at the core of humanity and peaceful coexistence. The union called on responsible authorities to act with urgency, fairness, and integrity, warning that delays in justice could deepen public unrest. It also appealed to all sections of society to remain calm and united, emphasizing solidarity as the community’s greatest strength.
All three organizations reiterated their commitment to safeguarding peace, justice, and the rights of the Naga people, while urging collective efforts to ensure long-term stability and prevent further loss of innocent lives.
