UKHRUL, Sept 24: The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has called a 24-hour emergency total shutdown across its jurisdiction from 7:00 am on September 25 to 7:00 am on September 26, 2026, protesting the reported killing of four civilians near Pilong in Kamjong district.
In an emergency notice issued on Thursday, TNL Secretary Thanreingam Muivah said the shutdown was called in response to the killing of Phami Jajo of Kangpat Khullen, Ningthem Kashak of Zingsui, Betterson Jajo of Kangpat Khunou and Vareishim Jajo of Kangpat Khullen.
According to the TNL statement, the four civilians were allegedly killed by KNA (B) and what it described as “Kuki Narco-Terrorists” at around 1:30 pm on September 24 at Pilong, about 35 km from Kamjong headquarters.
The TNL directed the public to strictly observe the shutdown throughout the 24-hour period.
However, power, medical and fire services, funeral and condolence-related movement, and other essential services have been exempted from the shutdown.
The shutdown comes amid heightened concern and anger following the reported attack on civilians in the border areas of Kamjong district.
