In a major security operation, forces under Manipur Police carried out a joint action and destroyed 23 illegally constructed bunkers in the hill ranges of Mongkot Chephu, Shongphel, Mullam, Sirarakhong, and Ringue villages under Litan Police Station in Ukhrul district.

The operation, conducted on April 30, targeted multiple suspected fortified positions in the region, which has witnessed heightened security concerns in recent times. Officials stated that the bunkers were dismantled as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal armed activities and restore normalcy.
During the operation, security personnel also recovered a number of items from the sites, including one 12 bore pump-action gun, 17 live rounds of ammunition of various calibres, and 111 fired cartridge cases. Other items seized include a battery charger, a magazine pouch, and a pair of jungle boots.

Authorities said the operation marks a significant step in strengthening security measures in the area. Security forces remain on alert, and further operations may be conducted to ensure peace and stability across the district.
