Imphal, June 5: The Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM) has welcomed the Manipur Government’s decision to indefinitely postpone the ongoing recruitment process for various posts under the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat, describing the move as a positive response to the difficulties faced by job seekers in the hill districts.
In a press communiqué issued on Friday, TYCM highlighted that the ongoing law and order situation and disruptions in transportation services across Manipur, particularly in the hill districts, have made it difficult for many aspiring candidates to access and submit application forms through the existing offline system.
The organisation pointed out that several government departments, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and statutory bodies continue to conduct recruitment processes through offline modes, requiring applicants to physically collect and submit forms. According to TYCM, this has placed an additional burden on job seekers residing in remote hill areas, forcing them to undertake costly and time-consuming travel while also facing long queues and procedural inconveniences.
TYCM stated that it had earlier submitted representations to the Chief Secretary of Manipur, the Secretary of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, and the Chief Minister, urging the government to introduce online application and submission facilities for all recruitment processes conducted by state departments. The council also sought the inclusion of online entry facilities for Employment Exchange Sponsoring Numbers.
Responding to the appeal, the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat has reportedly postponed the recruitment process for the posts of Drivers, Mali, Sweeper, and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) until further notification.
Expressing gratitude to the Government of Manipur and the Legislative Assembly Secretariat, TYCM said the decision reflects recognition of the genuine hardships faced by job seekers, particularly those living in the hill districts.
The council, however, reiterated its demand for a comprehensive online recruitment system across all government departments, stating that such a measure would ensure equal opportunities, reduce unnecessary expenses, and make recruitment processes more accessible and transparent for candidates across the state.
The statement was issued by the Media and Information Department, TYCM Headquarters.
