Ukhrul, September 12: Athletes from Ukhrul have made a strong mark at the 2nd Mr. North East India Bodybuilding and Physique Championship 2026 in Kohima, Nagaland, with Royal Gymnasium athletes contributing significantly to Manipur’s Team Championship title.
Among the seven athletes from Royal Gymnasium, Ukhrul, who represented Manipur at the regional championship, several secured top positions in their respective categories.
Worthan Lunglo of Ramva Village clinched the Gold Medal in the 60kg Open Category, while fellow Ramva athlete Lungreishim Kasar secured a Bronze Medal in the 60kg Open Class.
In the 65kg Open Category, Mishap Khapai also bagged the Gold Medal, further strengthening Manipur’s medal tally.
Meanwhile, Phila Yangya secured 5th place in the Women’s Model Physique category.
The achievements came at the championship being held in Kohima, Nagaland, from September 11 to 13, bringing together bodybuilding and physique athletes from across the North Eastern region.
According to the medal tally, Manipur emerged as the Team Champion, with athletes from Ukhrul making a major contribution by securing five of Manipur’s medals.
The performance marks a significant achievement for Ukhrul’s bodybuilding and fitness community, particularly for Royal Gymnasium, whose athletes have continued to establish a presence at the regional competitive level.
The success of the Ukhrul contingent also highlights the growing potential of local athletes and the increasing recognition of bodybuilding and physique sports in the district.
