Former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has expressed deep concern over the recent killings at TM Khasom in Ukhrul district, where a retired soldier and a civilian lost their lives.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Singh said he was “deeply disturbed by the tragic incident” that claimed the lives of Late SW Chinaoshang, a retired serviceman, and Late Yaruingam Vashum. He noted that such acts undermine the sense of safety and security that citizens rightfully deserve.
The former Chief Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, acknowledging the gravity of the loss and the pain faced by the victims’ loved ones.
Calling for firm and decisive action, Singh stated that there must be a “coordinated crackdown” on those responsible for the incident. He emphasized the need for accountability at every level to ensure justice is delivered.
“At the same time, safeguarding innocent civilians and restoring public confidence must remain central to all actions,” he added.
The incident has further heightened tensions in the region, with calls growing for strengthened security measures and swift intervention by authorities to prevent further escalation.
