The Liangmai Naga Council, Eastern Zone (LNC-EZ), has strongly condemned what it described as a “barbaric and inhuman” attack on Langka Naga Village in Manipur, alleging that nearly 100 armed Kuki militants launched a coordinated assault on the village on Saturday morning.
In a press release issued on June 13, the council stated that the attack took place at around 8:40 AM while the Naga community was still mourning the tragic killing of six Naga men from Konsakhul, whose bodies were recently recovered in a mutilated condition.
According to the LNC-EZ, the armed assailants, allegedly belonging to KNF (P) and KNF (N), used sophisticated weapons and drones during the assault, with gunfire reportedly continuing for nearly four hours from long-range positions along border areas.
The council claimed that two paddy field huts were set ablaze during the attack, while one dog and one buffalo were killed, causing damage to the villagers’ livelihoods and deepening fear among local residents.
Describing the incident as an attack on innocent civilians, the Liangmai Naga Council expressed outrage over what it termed repeated acts of aggression against Naga villages, particularly at a time when the community is grieving.
The council appealed to both the State and Central governments to intervene immediately, calling for decisive measures to prevent further escalation, ensure the safety of innocent civilians, and bring those responsible to justice.
LNC-EZ also warned that continued inaction by authorities could worsen public anger, deepen mistrust, and threaten communal harmony and regional stability.
Reaffirming its commitment to protect Naga lives, land, and rights, the council urged all concerned authorities to act with urgency, impartiality, and resolve to restore peace and uphold justice.
