Ukhrul, May 28: The road connecting New Haven to LPS which was blocked following a massive landslide triggered by continuous heavy rainfall has been successfully cleared today under the initiative of Ukhrul’s MLA Ram Muivah, bringing relief to commuters and residents affected by the disruption. The landslide had severely obstructed movement along the stretch, causing inconvenience to local residents and commuters travelling through the area. Following the blockage, efforts were reportedly initiated under the supervision and initiative of the MLA to restore normal connectivity at the earliest.

In another major development aimed at easing transportation difficulties in the district, emergency repair work of the PMGSY road from Ramva to Lungphu via Shokvao has also been initiated under the leadership of MLA Ram Muivah. According to sources, the road stretch has emerged as a crucial alternative route and currently serves as the only lifeline connecting people to Imphal and Dimapur, particularly at a time when National Highway-202 remains blocked.






The emergency restoration comes amid increasing concern over road connectivity in the region as prolonged disruptions continue to affect transportation, supply of essential commodities and movement of people. With the blockage of major routes, residents of interior areas have been facing immense hardship in accessing markets, healthcare services and other essential facilities. Locals have reportedly welcomed the prompt intervention. the immediate clearance of the landslide-hit road and emergency repair of the Ramva–Lungphu route would provide much-needed relief to stranded commuters and villages dependent on the route for connectivity. Authorities and concerned agencies are expected to continue monitoring vulnerable road stretches as heavy rainfall persists across the hill districts, raising the risk of further landslides and road damage.
