Imphal, May 29: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has strongly condemned the deadly ambush on a goods vehicle along National Highway-202 between Leingangching and T.S. Kasom Village under Litan Police Station in Ukhrul district, which claimed the life of a truck driver from West Bengal and left a police constable injured.
In a statement posted on social media, the Chief Minister described the incident as a “heinous ambush” and expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of life.
“I strongly condemn the heinous ambush on a goods vehicle between Leingangching and T.S. Kasom Village along NH-202 under Litan Police Station, in which a truck driver from West Bengal lost his life and a police constable sustained injuries,” the Chief Minister stated.
Expressing condolences to the bereaved family, the Chief Minister conveyed his sympathies and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul. He also wished the injured police constable a speedy and complete recovery.
“I convey my deepest condolences to the bereaved family of the deceased and pray for eternal peace to the departed soul. I also wish the injured police constable a speedy and full recovery,” he added.
The Chief Minister further asserted that such acts of violence would not be tolerated and assured that the perpetrators involved in the attack would be brought to justice as per the law.
“Such senseless acts of violence are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The perpetrators will be brought to justice in accordance with the law,” the statement added.
The attack reportedly took place along the vulnerable stretch of NH-202 under Litan Police Station on Friday morning, where suspected armed assailants allegedly opened fire on a goods vehicle transporting essential commodities, resulting in the death of the truck driver and injuries to a Manipur Police constable.
