Tamenglong, June 8: The Working Committee of the Joint Tribes Council (JTC), Manipur, has expressed deep sorrow and outrage over the killing of Lt. Mr. Chunjanglung Panmei (57) of Pongringlong village, describing the incident as a “brutal, senseless and cowardly act.”
In a condolence message issued on June 8, the JTC Working Committee stated that Panmei, a peace-loving villager, had gone out early in the morning to collect firewood for his family when he was allegedly shot dead. The JTC described the late Panmei as a devoted father, a brother, a neighbour and a respected member of society whose life reflected care and service toward his people. It lamented that a life dedicated to family and community had been cut short by violence.
Calling for justice, the council said the blood of the deceased should not be forgotten and pledged that his sacrifice would not be in vain. The organisation also prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family during this difficult time.
