Kohima, June 28, 2026: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has strongly rejected the recent statement issued by the Kuki-Zo Council concerning the killing of six Naga civilians, terming it an attempt to divert attention from what it described as the “cold-blooded abduction, torture and murder” of innocent Naga civilians.
In a press statement issued from its headquarters at Oking, Naga Solidarity Park, Kohima, the NSF said the families of the victims continue to await justice and that no statement of regret can erase the brutality of the crime.
The Federation also expressed strong objection to the use of the term “Kacha Naga,” calling it divisive and derogatory. It said any attempt to loosely classify or redefine the identity of the indigenous Naga people was unacceptable. The NSF asserted that the Naga people have a shared history, collective identity and ancestral homeland, and that no external narrative can alter their existence or destiny.
The NSF cautioned organisations and individuals against using narratives that, according to it, seek to weaken Naga unity and undermine the Naga people’s legitimate political and historical rights. It said attempts to sow discord among the Naga people at a time of grief and demand for justice would be firmly opposed.
Reiterating its demand for accountability, the Federation urged the Government to identify, arrest, prosecute and punish every individual responsible for the abduction and killing of the six Nagas, including armed groups and any civilian found involved in the crime.
The NSF further called upon the Government of India to immediately abrogate the Suspension of Operations agreement with Kuki armed groups under which, it alleged, atrocities and human rights violations have been committed with impunity.
At the same time, the Federation said the Naga people do not seek conflict with the Government of India or with neighbouring communities, but desire peaceful coexistence based on mutual respect, justice and recognition of each other’s rights.
The statement, signed by NSF President Mteisuding and General Secretary Kenilo Kent, reaffirmed solidarity with the bereaved families and declared that the pain of the victims’ families is the pain of every Naga.
“Until truth prevails and those responsible are held accountable, the Federation shall remain steadfast in its pursuit of justice,” the NSF stated.
