Ukhrul, July 25: Four civilians from Hungpung village in Ukhrul district were reportedly arrested by personnel of the Assam Rifles on Saturday evening while they were working in paddy fields, according to local sources.
The reported incident took place at around 5:30 PM on July 25 in the paddy fields of Hungpung village. Sources alleged that the four individuals, all cultivators, were detained without any stated reason.
The individuals have been identified as:
- Khapai Shimray Yuimung (28), son of Late Khapai Shimray Zimiksho.
- Shomi Shokchui (38), son of Machangta Shokchui.
- Hungreithei Kasomva (37), son of Noiba Kasomva.
- Khuirami KSV (36), son of Naoba KSV.
As of the time of publication, no official statement has been issued by the Assam Rifles regarding the reported arrests, and the reasons for the detention remain unclear.
