Kuki Civil Society Organisations (KCSOs), Churachandpur, have issued a joint press statement opposing the proposed visit of Manipur Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh to Lamka/Songpi, Churachandpur, reportedly scheduled for July 4, 2026.
In the statement, the organisations said they had received information from “reliable sources” that the Chief Minister was expected to visit the district. The KCSOs made it clear that until a solution is reached to the ongoing Kuki-Zo–Meitei conflict, they would not allow any Meitei individual, official, or group to enter the district, including the Chief Minister.
The joint statement further declared a boycott of the proposed visit and warned that any untoward incident arising from the visit would be the responsibility of the Chief Minister.
The statement was signed by leaders of several Kuki organisations, including Kuki Inpi Churachandpur, KSO Churachandpur, KWOHR General Headquarters, Kuki Women Union, KKL General Headquarters, and KCA Churachandpur.
The development comes amid continued tension in Manipur, where community-based organisations have repeatedly expressed concerns over security, movement, and unresolved issues linked to the ongoing ethnic conflict.
