Ukhrul, July 2, 2026: The Eastern Command of the Naga Village Guard (NVG) has issued a directive calling for strict compliance with the Tangkhul Naga Long’s earlier declaration severing civic and economic ties with the Kukis.
In a directive dated July 2, 2026, issued from its office at Oking, Naga Hills, the Eastern Command of the NVG stated that the order follows the Tangkhul Naga Long’s declaration made on February 25, 2026. The directive instructed all individuals, groups and organisations to strictly comply with the decision.
The NVG warned that any defiance of the directive would invite punitive action, stating that the order would come into effect from July 2, 2026.
The directive also claimed that certain “vested individuals” from both Naga and non-Naga communities were reportedly collaborating with the Kukis in areas falling under Ukhrul, Kamjong and Saikul. The Eastern Command stated that such acts would no longer be condoned.
According to the directive, punitive action would be initiated against those found defaulting or acting against the order issued by the Tangkhul Naga Long.
The directive was issued for strict compliance by all concerned individuals, groups and organisations. Copies of the directive were also marked to all media and press for publication, concerned individuals, groups and organisations, and for office records.
The statement was signed by the Commander of the Eastern Command, Naga Village Guard.
