Ukhrul, August 13, 2026 (DIO): The District Administration, Ukhrul, observed the 135th Patriots’ Day on Thursday at the DRDA Hall, Mini Secretariat Complex, Hamleikhong, commemorating the martyrs who laid down their lives during the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered to the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General. The tribute ceremony was led by Smt. Polly Makan, MCS, Additional District Magistrate, Ukhrul, and followed by District Level Officers (DLOs) from various departments. A two-minute silence was also observed in solemn remembrance of the patriots who made the supreme sacrifice.
Addressing the gathering, the ADM paid homage to the patriots for their courage and sacrifice in defending the sovereignty of their motherland during the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891. She said the legacy of the martyrs continues to serve as a source of inspiration for generations.
The ADM called upon all sections of society to uphold the legacy of the patriots by working collectively towards peace, unity and harmony in Manipur.
The observance was attended by DLOs and staff of various departments under the District Administration, Ukhrul.
