Kamjong, August 13, 2026: The Kamjong District Administration on Thursday organised a Har Ghar Tiranga Rally at the district headquarters as part of the nationwide campaign being observed from August 9 to 17.
The rally was led by Deputy Commissioner L.N. Kashung, IAS, and Superintendent of Police Tholu Rocky. It began at the Kamjong Higher Secondary School Ground and proceeded towards Awontang, with participants carrying and waving the Tricolour.
District Administration officials, District Level Officers, security personnel, teachers and students from various schools took part in the rally, displaying their respect for the National Flag and reinforcing the spirit of patriotism ahead of Independence Day.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Kashung said the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign symbolises the honour, prestige and glory of the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation. He urged students to put the nation first in their endeavours and uphold the values of dignity, discipline and respect.
The Har Ghar Tiranga campaign is a Government of India initiative encouraging citizens to bring the National Flag home and hoist it as part of the Independence Day celebrations. This year’s campaign also commemorates the 150th anniversary of the national song, Vande Mataram.
Earlier in the day, Kamjong also held a full dress rehearsal for the 80th Independence Day Celebration, 2026, at the Kamjong Higher Secondary School Ground.
A total of 20 march-past contingents, including contingents from the 14th Border Security Force, 11th Indian Reserve Battalion, Male Police and 17 school contingents, participated in the rehearsal.
Deputy Commissioner L.N. Kashung, IAS, will hoist the National Flag and take the salute from the participating march-past contingents at the Kamjong Higher Secondary School Ground on August 15, as the district joins the nation in celebrating India’s 80th Independence Day.
