Kamjong, May 22: The week-long Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign titled “Jan Bhagidaari – Sabse Door, Sabse Pehle” continued across Kamjong district with a series of outreach programmes, including medical camps, plantation drives and transect walks aimed at strengthening public participation and last-mile service delivery in remote areas.

The campaign, launched on May 18 by Deputy Commissioner of Kamjong, Shri L. N. Kashung, IAS, is being implemented under the Government of India initiatives — Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) and PM-JANMAN — and will continue till May 25.
According to an official press release issued by the Office of the District Information Officer (DIO), Kamjong, medical camps organised on May 19 in Kamjong, Kasom Khullen and Phungyar Sub-Divisions benefitted a total of 87 persons, including 21 males and 66 females.

Of the total beneficiaries, 52 persons were from Kamjong, 21 from Kasom Khullen and 14 from Phungyar. During the health outreach programme, medical personnel administered 21 Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccinations and two routine immunisations.
Health screenings conducted during the camps also led to the detection and treatment of one malaria case, eight hypertension cases and two diabetes cases, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and healthcare access in remote tribal areas.
As part of the campaign’s environmental and community participation initiatives, plantation drives and transect walks were carried out across different sub-divisions on May 20.
At the District Headquarters, around 80 saplings were planted in the presence of Deputy Commissioner L. N. Kashung. Similar plantation drives saw the planting of approximately 100 saplings each at K. Leihaoram village under Kasom Khullen Sub-Division and Phungyar village under Phungyar Sub-Division.
Officials also conducted a transect walk in Phungyar Sub-Division, symbolising active public engagement in village governance and developmental activities.
On May 21, outreach activities continued at Thawai village under Phungyar Sub-Division, where another 70 saplings were planted during a plantation drive coupled with a transect walk. Similar programmes were also conducted in Kamjong Sub-Division to encourage community involvement.
In addition, a medical camp at K. Leihaoram village screened 35 persons, with medicines distributed to beneficiaries requiring treatment.
The ongoing IEC campaign seeks to ensure the effective delivery and saturation of flagship welfare schemes among tribal communities residing in remote and far-flung areas by focusing on health outreach, environmental awareness, livelihood support and community participation.
