New Delhi, June 6: A complaint has reportedly been lodged against the youth-led satirical group, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), alleging anti-national activities and questioning the source of funding behind its recent nationwide mobilisation.
The development comes a day after thousands of students, young professionals, and supporters gathered at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to participate in a large-scale protest against the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and irregularities in the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE) On-Screen Marking (OSM) evaluation process.
The demonstration, organised under the banner of the Cockroach Janata Party and led by its founder Abhijeet Dipke, was held with prior permission from Delhi Police. Protesters carried placards and banners demanding accountability from authorities and calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the controversies surrounding the examinations.
The complaint against the organisation reportedly alleges that the movement may have been supported through foreign funding, citing Dipke’s recent return from the United States before organising the protest. However, no official evidence supporting the allegations had been made public at the time of filing this report.
Adding momentum to the agitation, noted climate activist Sonam Wangchuk joined the gathering after previously warning that he would extend support if authorities failed to address students’ concerns by June 5.
Ahead of the event, Dipke appealed to supporters to maintain peace and discipline throughout the protest. In a symbolic gesture, he encouraged participants to greet police personnel with flowers and avoid any form of confrontation.
Authorities, meanwhile, implemented extensive security arrangements across the national capital. Additional police personnel were deployed at sensitive locations, including Indira Gandhi International Airport, major border entry points, and central Delhi areas. Officials said more than 1,000 security personnel were assigned to maintain law and order during the protest.
Law enforcement agencies also monitored social media activity and transportation networks, including ride-hailing services, to assess crowd movement and prevent any untoward incidents.
Originally conceived as a satirical movement, the Cockroach Janata Party emerged following controversial remarks allegedly made by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant during a court hearing last month. The organisation rapidly gained traction online, amassing millions of followers and transforming into a platform advocating for youth-related issues.
Dipke, a political campaigner currently pursuing studies at Boston University, has positioned the movement as a voice for students and young citizens seeking greater transparency and accountability in educational institutions and public examinations.
As investigations into the allegations continue, the protest has reignited national debate over examination integrity, student rights, and the growing influence of youth-driven movements in shaping public discourse.
